Unusually this isn’t advice on how to use screaming jets or tactics based around them. This is the lack of the previous statements.
I can’t see a single scenario that would allow for successful use of screaming jets. It sounds very good being able to deepstrike on a raider accept all you can do is shoot, what good is that? Does anyone have a tactic based around deepstriking raiders? can you give me some inkling of hope that we don’t have at least one completely useless vehicle upgrade!

I'm afraid i can't realy help on screaming jets, as i havn't used them much as they don't realy work if the raiders are screaming out of the web . But saying that I dont find all vechile upgrades useless. For example I find slave snares can be quite useful, espiscaly aginst fearless enimies. A horrofex can also come in handy aginst armies that migt be able to gun you down before you can get any work done. So screaming jets, no I have no use for them, but some of the other upgrades can be useful in the right situations. (Of course these are only my views and you should realy lisson to others advice, as no doubt it will be more helpful than mine .)

[glow=red,2,300]I guess you could DS the units into an objective or something on the last turn. If it a large battle ground, you could wait a little while and DS the units behind the opposition behind cover. also, it makes your opponent guess when you put very few models on the table. it will make it harder to figure out your plan of attack.[/glow]

not that i know of, for one i dont think that WWP can be used from a vehicle, let alone a vehicle that moved.

WWP can be opened from raiders, Raider just has to not move that turn. In the situation described above, no It cannot be opened.
Btw that deepstrike described above cant happen because the raider comes in on 4+ turn 2, 3+ turn 4, 2+ turn 5, so usually it will be there turn 4. And you cant hold it back.

you could deep strike a haemonculus with a 9 grotesque retinue with a raider...hopefully in the second turn. it can shoot at whatever when it drops in, then when the opponent shoots it down, in your next turn you drop the portal, so hopefully by turn 4 your reserves can come in. if you use a portal normally (with a warrior squad or the whatnot) its about the same amount of turns for something to come out of the portal.

I would say that taking a WWP and screaming jets would be a major point sink, and a poor tactical choice, no matter whether it worked or not. thats 15pts per raider/ravager and the WWP is 50pts. With more than one WWP you come out to 200+ pts, and that is 2 taloses, or another raider squad, or a wych sqaud.

but the raiders with wwp still do their job. if they open up a portal in the middle of the enemy, they allow a huge chunk of your army to get into the action without harm.

That will work if 3 things did not happen, 1 you did not drift to the enemy, 2 they could not wipe out the squad, 3 they could not assault the squad. For the most part, that will not happen, you are far better off to just toorbo-boost your raider 24" the first turn and hope for the best.

yep they are worth it in many games, and there is even an army list centered around them, look at the top of the board for the "army of shadows" thread.

yeah, my little brother was going to go to them. we playtested with proxies and a hastily converted decapitator.....i played my templar. the decapitator is really good. his 30 mandrakes did a little, but didn't do as great as he hoped, and his army arrived over the coarse of four turns. overall it wasn't too bad an army, you just need good rolls or alot of luck (actually, they are one and the same...). he liked the whole idea of not having anything on the table....and the shadow theme, but then he saw nids.....now he's going nids. heh. go figure.
