ok, in the codex it says it is basically my deployment zone. what happens if i have all my reserves coming in at the same time? do they all have to fit under the blast template? or is it more like a point from where i measure the 12" (deployment zone size)? yet another question about the portal... ;D

ahh, there have been problems with that. basicly, if you have a webway portal in your army, you can hold any unit in reserves even if its not allowed. when you open the webway portal your reserves do move off of the blast template as if they were coming off your deployment zone normally. if you had to pack them in the template, i think there would be problems . hope that clarifies it for you

so basically, if i originally had a 12 inch deployment zone, i get 12 inches away from the middle of the portal?

I think the problem here is reffering to the portal as a deployment zone. Its not, it acts as a board edge from where your units can move on from. So a unit mounted in a raider could move on 12" from the edge of the portal, whilst a unit of warriors on foot could move on 6"
Hope that helps a bit

Ok going to try to explain how I think it works.
1) You roll for reserves and get 2 warrior squads and a raider squad. 2) You take a warrior squad and move them 6” measuring from the template. 3) You take another warrior squad and move them 6” then another d6” measuring from the template. 4) You move the Raider 24”.
My point is that you don’t actually have to put them on the template all at ones, but can have them move off in the movement phase 1st or last…if anyone asks or complains tell them its rapid re-deployment of troops. Or Waves of reinforcements coming out of the WWP all one right after another, or intermixed.
EDIT: But it still is that 3" template from which they enter.

Sure thing... just remember that if the enemy surrounds the portal, you cant get anything out unless its in a raider or a talos.

a talos isn't a vehicle though...so it wouldn't be able to come through....but the one raider that will come through carries my incubi.....so they won't be surounding it for very long. heh heh heh.

Well that’s the thing, a talos counts as a skimmer so it should (and does) move right over everything, troop included, it just has a 6" movement range. So it should ignore the enemy troops, however it is impossible to argue about it because the rules are poorly defined, but that is how I interpret them.

is the talos the DE equivilent of a dreadnought?

Yes and No.
Yes it is slow powerful, and capable of ripping apart almost anything.
No, it does not have an armor value, and str 4 can hurt it.
There are benefits to being both, but right now its not a dreadnaught per say, yet for dark eldar it’s the closest thing we have, Unless you consider Vect.
