Hey everyone, you'll probably be sick of stupid questions like this but I'm having trouble building a 1500pt DE Army, I've really only just started and know extremely little just what i can piece together from the codex, i will be fighting mainly tyranids and tau and need some help building up to face them. I have just bought some dark eldar stuff today which consists of the battle-force, (20 warriors,5 reavers,1raider) i also bought a blister containing 3 mandrakes and i was given a free blister of incubi (didn't understand why i got it free but i wasn't one to complain ;D) so how should i build on this??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

well, firstly you need more warriors. i personally have 3 troops of warriors. 2 17-man squads with sp. cannons and a 10-man squad with 2 DL. then you should choose whether you want a couple of haemonculi or a lord (archon or dracon). i say the rest is up to you, but since you already have mandrakes, why not get a few more?

Welcome! Its always nice to see (ok read) about new dark eldar. As for advice there is almost no stupid question you can ask (well there are a few but everyone ask them… at some point) besides its better to know then to play it wrong in every game.
As for the advice for your army you have to find out what point values you will be playing at, since you said 1500 you will need a lot more stuff… I would suggest getting a few 500 and 1000 pt games in as you go instead of getting everything at ones.
Reading what you have you need 3 things the most. 1) Warriors getting another 2 boxes is the way to go, I have 60 warriors (only 40 are assembled) and still working on them. 2) HQ you need to find out what works best for you or what you need your HQ to do, kill big nasty things or slaughter lots of little ones. 3) Get either 10 wyches or 10 mandrakes to fill out at least one Elite choice so you would be able to do some damage in hand to hand combat.
Now I know a lot of people wrote a lot of things on similar subjects so feel free to read through them. Post at the top of the page have a lot of good information, that can help you grow your small Dark Eldar force into a mighty Kabal to be feared.
PS: since I have not played the new nids yet I cant offer much advice on it, but grotesques work wonders against tau, actually just about anything does if it makes it into CC.

well, lucky for you i have played tyranids on occasions. and i have 2 pieces of advice for you (and anyone else who has trouble with nid's) #1 go for the synapse creatures (hive tyrant, tyranid warriors, and possibly zoanthrobes and carnifex's) #2 DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE ON GENESTEALERS IN CC. i know from experiance, they rip you to shreads and they have a high Initiative compared to the rest of the nid's army. shoot them down with disintegrator's, trust me, they work wonders . good luck getting your army together, and good luck on your games
