(Well, this is the history I'm currently working on for my Space Marines. I was tired of doing Index for them so experimented with diffrent ways of doing it, here goes)
To: Inquisitor Maules
From: Integrator Baal
Date: 999.M41
Subject: Adeptus Astartes Brotherhood Ominus
Thought for the Day: The keenest blade is righteous hatred.
My Lord Inquisitor, it is with both great excitement and great trepidation that I contact you. Whilst travelling through the Ghoul Stars with your brother Inquisitor Hailen I stumbled across records that were believed to be long forgotten, concerning a chapter of the Adeptus Astartes created in the 21st Founding. I have not shown my findings to Inquisitor Hailen, as it is my experience that he does not share our views and would, in all likelihood, destroy the data. So it is that I present this information to you and await your guidance on this matter. The Emperor shall walk among man again.
Base Commander’s Log
(Note: Many segments of these logs were unsalvageable, either completely or within the time I had, and other logs were just missing.
Log no: 13
Our work here seems to be continuing to meet all schedules laid out before us. The growth of our subjects proceeds as should be. These giants of …… we create will soon be fully grown and ready for the first trails.
Log no: 17
First trials have been a complete success. The Emperor’s light has shone on our work. The test subjects far excelled all expectations and show no sign of genetic weakness. My team and I have now received authorization to begin the mass growths of these… and in the same message we have been given the name for our latest Chapter, the Brotherhood Ominus.
Log no: 25
The subjects are growing at a far accelerated rate the reasons for this are, as of yet, unknown but I will look into this further.
Log no: 26
After my log yesterday I preceded down to the storage labs, eager to find a reason for the Brotherhood Ominus’ rapid growth. I was amazed at what I found, nearly a third of the gene-seed stock was missing, and others were in containers which appeared to be …… and broken. By the Throne I am worried of what is happening here.
Log no: 31
I am truly puzzled by the latest turn of events. Although the …… are growing at an accelerated pace they do not seem to be able to maintain themselves. Many subjects have begun to wither and emaciate, some at a slow rate, weeks or days, and some at much faster rates. Earlier during combat testing I watched as a number of subjects withered from their fully grown state into dry lifeless husks right before my eyes.
Log no: 33
Yet more failures today. We have not been able to determine the reasons for …… and as such cannot find a way to slow the process, let alone stop it. Not only have we failed in that area but the condition of many subjects has worsened, they are now showing random mutations during which they lash out at anything near by, what is left afterwards is nearly unrecognisable as human. Primarchs redeem us, what have we done?
Log no: 35
I have received news of our project; the Brotherhood Ominus is to be destroyed, along with all material and data concerning them. In a few moments we will begin the shutdown of the incubation tanks. As of yet I have still not decided on how to dispose of the fully grown subjects and so for now I have ordered them to be locked away in the deepest part of the lab in reinforced cells.
Log no: 36
For almost two days I have hidden here. Attempting to disconnect the incubation tanks while the fully grown subjects were still alive proved to be a mistake. As we disconnected the first a bone chilling shrike echoed through the labs sending many of my counterparts mad with fear. Within moments the subjects had broken out of their cells and they gleefully tore into my counterparts and acolytes the same. It is now I know that they remained within the facility until their comrades had matured enough to be removed from the incubators and then they left, but I am not sure. I can still hear the screams, and the dragging of heavy feet through the corridors. May the Emperor forgive us for our sins in this place, for now I commit my soul to his judgment.
