Part I
Deep within the Biel-Tan Craftworld, the Dark Reaper Exarch prepared himself for battle. This was his first battle in 200 years. Readying himself he began no done the ancient armor. With every peace that he put on, he changed becoming the one they call Rebaris the Destroyer. He was well known among his kind, respected by many in the Swordwind. As the ancient Exarch put on his armor he picked up his Reaper Launcher and began moving toward the rest of the battle group. Joining his fellow Reaper’s he began to issue orders.
“You eight will follow me” on our wave serpent “we will be providing cover for our brethren against the cursed Mon-keigh. Unfortunately I see that you hesitate, never fear your souls are safe with me, and we will deal death to our enemies, no matter what else happens.”
And with that the Eldar taskforce began their journey through the warp. Traveling to a distant planet, a planet that needed no name.
Upon exiting the portal the Reapers found themselves looking down at a massive battlefield. They saw Howling Banshees charge headlong into Imperial guardsman, hacking slashing the squad to peaces. Everywhere the Reapers looked the Eldar were outnumbered 3:1.
Seeing the carnage Rebaris pointed at the advancing imperial guards men, and ordered the reapers to fire. Within seconds the Imperial guardsman were shredded into nothing as the ground became littered with the remainders of their broken body’s. The Exarch pointed again at a distant flash of light, coming from a near by forest. There he thought must be cowardly enemy. Focusing his thought he ordered the reapers to fire again. And was instantly rewarded with an image of the tree line being reduced to smoldering ashes. Turning his attention back on the battlefield Rebaris told the Reapers to form into groups of 3 and to open fire.
Seeing the Striking Scorpions come under fire Rebaris targeted the Imperial lines and told his 2 accompanying reapers to fire. Immediate results followed, 6 guardsmen were incinerated, making the rest duck into cover. That alone allowed to Scorpions jump into the Mon-Keigh ranks, slaughtering anyone that dared to challenge them.
The battle raged on for 3 hours until finally all of the insolent Mon-keigh were destroyed. But at what horrible coast though the reaper Exarch, looking around him seeing the hundreds of dead Eldar, lying on the ground. Signaling the surviving Reapers “Time return to the swordwind…”
Part II
I made my way out of the portal… then I reached home. My squad of 8 reapers got home unharmed, for now. Letting my mind roam i contacted a Warlock asking if i would be needed. ‘No, everything was under control,' the warlock replied. Saying, “Excellent extermination, you have done your duty, and can return home now.” I went to the shrine in order to remove my ancient armor.
After getting there, i was surprised to find Farsear Roand waiting for me.
“Long time no see my friend” Said the Farsear.
“Greetings, and welcome old friend, you well know that what’s mine is yours. What news have you brought?”
“Bad news I fear, your wife… she… she is gone. She fought bravely but was just overwhelmed by the Imperials.”
“How…? When…? <turns away> was there nothing that could be done?”
“No I am afraid not…”
<With Anger> “And her spirit Stone?”
“Do not worry she will join the Infinity circuit.”
<Turmoil of mixed emotions> “I need time, leave me…”
“I shall leave, but remember you are an Exarch your duty is to your people. I…”
No longer paying attention Rebaris’s mind wondered to the days long ago.
… A child playing…
… A boy being joined by a girl…
… Playing “cat’s cradle” with other faceless children…
… Running through the meadow, with her…
… Learning, with her…
… Reading, with her…
… Going to the shrine, with her…
… Loving her…
… Marring her…
Then it happened. WAR, joining the guardian’s together, we learned together, shared triumphs, and tragedies. Fought in battles, relaxed under the flawless skies.
Then for a long time nothing... we thought of it as peace, but the elders knew better. It will never last they said. And they were right. Joined together we answered the call of duty, we fought the onslaught of chaos together, killed together. She loving the rush of a close combat melee, she joined the howling banshees, becoming absorbed by all the bloodshed. Soon she excelled at fighting, at killing, she became an Exarch. Me feeling betrayed, left behind, I joined the dark reapers. Following the troops, killing to protect my beloved… then one day… my master died. Taking his armor I became the next Reaper Exarch. Together we battled for 400 years. We fought the humans, demons, aliens and our dark cousins. We had many victories, some bitter defeats. But through it all we were together.
Then again it happened peace, quiet, tranquility… all was destroyed as we were one’s again called into battle!
… that is when everything came crashing down…
Part III
Rebaris forced himself to remember his beloved. Before the battle, the way that she put on her armor, the way she prepared for combat, the way she fought. All of these things he was reminded of each time he looked at the Howling Banshees.
And then the Mon-Keigh came. They settled on a world that was not theirs, and for that they had to pay. That faithful day, he and his beloved were to ambush a Mon-Keigh convoy, wiping them out completely. Then they would have proceeded to the human city and kill each and every one of the pesky humans. Unfortunately the seers have not foreseen the Ork’s, those insolent fools attacked the planet, making the human’s double the strength of their convoy and making it go of its normal rout.
He still fondly remembered the gentile teasing of his beloved before they went through the web way portal. Remembering her last words, “Fight well my dear, for at the end of this day we shall count the number of Mon-Keigh heads that we had the privilege of collecting”.
Then the battle… and the humans, swarms and swarms of humans, <feeling of disgust> pitiful, frail, <with revulsion> disgusting creatures, <with anger> they all need extermination; they will all pay for her death.
And I, I alone and no other will deliver their judgment… I will be their doom; I will be the incarnation of Khaine himself on the battlefield. Their souls will all be at my mercy, and for eternity they will feel the pain and suffering as they get swallowed by she who thirsts.
Part IV
Coming back to himself Rebaris realized that he no longer had company. Farseer Roand was gone. Perhaps he sensed my anguish, my inner turmoil, and my overpowering urge to destroy. Each and every single second without her, my hatred for humanity intensifies.
Perhaps Roand had thought the same as me at that time perhaps he condoned my actions. I doubt that I shall ever know his reasons for letting me get sucked into a path of eternal violence.
<Thinking deeply> Perhaps it’s time, perhaps now I should join the court of the young king.
No, that would be most unwise, and I am no good in hand-to-hand combat. I will do what they cannot; I will deal death from above. I will kill all of the Mon-Keigh that dare to show them selves and I will stop at nothing to avenge the death of my beloved. No matter how many Mon-Keigh I have to kill I will not stop until her spirit, is avenged, or until we are together. <With Mad passion> To battle my brethren to battle I say, let us teach the cursed Mon-Keigh that Eldar fury has no bounds. Let us go and destroy the pitiful humans while we have the advantage.
Mwahahaha… there will be nothing left after I will get through with the pitiful humans! <Glancing around> I called for my warriors, where are my warriors! Where are they! <Collapses on the ground> Why have they deserted me? Can they not see that now I need them more then ever! Now I need their power… their power… <Begins to cry hysterically>
